Along with the increasing population of the city, vehicular traffic is also increasing by leaps and bounds which is increasing the air and sound pollution in the city. Traffic police are taking steps to rid the city of noise pollution which has become a health hazard.
Those who make loud noises and use irritating horns will be prosecuted under the Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1989 with a fine of Rs 1,000. City Traffic Joint Commissioner AV Ranganath said a special drive would be launched from June 1 to this end.
During the inspections conducted under the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate from the 10th of this month, 3320 horns with loud noises were removed.
