It’s not easy to make your presence felt in the multitude of films that are made for big screen and OTT. However, Hyderabad-born cum Texas-based Surya Kasibhatla has done just that. Also, his debut film is with none other than Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah.
Surya has been a part of a thriller called Jalsa on Amazon Prime and makes acting look like a cakewalk. In fact, it was his physiotherapy teachers from his childhood who told him about the role, and Surya quickly jumped in.
His role is inclusive in the sense that he plays a boy who has cerebral palsy in the film, as he has cerebral palsy in real life. Surya is an all-rounder when it comes to his curriculum. He says he dreamt of being an actor from the age of 4. He would dance, sing, imitate other actors, say dialogues, and thoroughly loved his participation in annual day performances at school.
He says Jalsa was a dream come true, and he says he couldn’t get himself to believe that he was actually acting with Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah. Incidentally, both the actors have called him the soul of the film. He says they made him quite comfortable and assured him they would respond to whatever he did before the camera.
For now, Surya is into React and React Native, both of which are applications, one for web and one for mobile. He then wants to learn about Artificial Intelligence and move on to operating systems.
Though brought up in Texas, Surya is fluent in Telugu, both in speaking and writing. He also has fond memories of the time he spent in Hyderabad till he was eight. He is thankful to his physiotherapists, Asra ma’am and Shravan sir, for helping him realize his dream.
