Hyderabad
In a major fillip to those owning EVs, the Telangana government has decided to set up 14 public EV charging centers in greater Hyderabad. Also, there will be 230 charging points within GHMC limits and another 100 under HMDA limits.
The city has been developing fast in terms of infrastructure, and the roads have been developed on a massive scale, and they have been made signal free. However, as a downside, the number of vehicles has increased multi-fold, and this has led to lots of pollution in Hyderabad. In order to address this problem, the state government is taking various measures to increase the usage of electronic vehicles.
Already, the fuel prices have hit an all-time high, and people are vexed with using fuel vehicles. Added to that, there is a definite change in climate, due to which many people are now considering electric vehicles, though they are costlier than normal fuel vehicles. And then, there are special provisions for EVs, which is inspiring many to go for these vehicles.
India is aiming to become pollution free and have fuel-free vehicles by the year 2030, both in public and private usage. Telangana state government is also striving towards this goal and is working with various departments and electric vehicle manufacturing companies and formulating policies to this effect. IT department’s electronic wing, road transport department, TS REDCO, TSSPDCL/ TS NPDCL, MAUD, and TS RTC are the main players that would work towards deciding on policies, operational guidelines, subsidies, public charging facilities, electronic tariff, ceiling cost, setting up public charging points, setting charging points for RTC are among the core issues the departments will deal with.
The initial charging points will provide charging for vehicles needing 15 KW and 120-150 KW. The points will be installed at Indira Park, KBR Park gate 1, KBR Park gate 3, KBR Park gate 6, Tank Bund, Basheer Bagh road, Gunfoundry, Municipal Parking Abids, Mahaveera Harinasthali National Park, Nanakramguda, Silparama 2 Nagole Bridge, Owaisi Hospital, Taj Tristar Hospital.
