The city has been buzzing with all kinds of suspicious activities, attempts of drug smuggling through roadways, and its entry through foreign nationals, and now it has also involved itself in human trafficking. In addition, this year has seen 2021 crime rates rise in the city, creating many doubts about the safety that the city boasts about for people who are non-locals.
The recent big case has been the arrest of a human trafficking gang by the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly arranging the entry of Rohingya's into the country. The gang was seen to be operating from Hyderabad and would bring Rohingya's, especially women and children, to settle in different parts of the country with forged documents and identification arranged by the gang. The ATS arrested these men two weeks ago Muhammad Noor, alias Nurul Islam, of Bangladesh origin; Rahmatullah and Shabi-ur Rahman of Myanmar origin.
The police arrested another man named Ismail from Hyderabad(Myanmar origin) from information from these men and are in Lucknow for questioning. The police found A mobile phone, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card, and other documents from Ismail.
After questioning another arrested member, Noor confessed to bringing in Aaley Mian and Abdul Shakoor from Cox Bazar, Dhaka, and their whereabouts in Bareily, UP, which helped the police track these men. The police and the ATS suspect a few more names from a connection up in New Delhi and are waiting to make the correct arrests for breaking the ongoing chain.
