Turning down court summons or arrest warrants have been a rare sight in the city as usually the people give in to the warrant and surrender or cooperate with the order. However, there was a bit of a drama involved in the area of Saidabad when two daughters of a cleric who the court had summoned turned down the notice by the Special Investigations Team(SIT) of the Hyderabad police.
The cleric, Maulana Abdul Aleem Islahi's daughters, were served this summons by SIT team lead by sub-inspector Vijay Kumar but had to go back without a response. The daughters of this cleric were alleged in 2019 to hold congregational prayers against the Ayodhya Verdict 2019.
The reason for this summons is that their prayer meeting was against the verdict. Also, hate and violence-inciting statements were passed throughout their prayer meeting, and the police booked a sedition case against these women organizers( Shabista and Zille Huma).
The cleric denied the claims of the sedition charges against his daughters and has stated the police had been targetting him and his family for various reasons for quite some time. The leader also complained of being followed mysteriously and claimed that man to be a policeman. The daughters refused to appear in court and openly turned down the summons at their residence.
