Not one or two, a person has committed 160 thefts in the span of 30 years. He went to jail more than 22 times but did not mend his ways. The South Zone Task Force police have arrested the Repeat Offender and seized a bounty worth Rs 18 lakh from him.
CP Anjani Kumar disclosed the details at the city police commissionerate office on Wednesday. Muhammad Salim alias Sunil Shetty (Being a fan of actor Sunil Shetty, he took the name) hails from Nawab Saheb Kunta. He has committed 160 thefts since 1991. He targets middle-class families and robs their houses. In 2018, Kanchanbagh police opened a PD Act on Salim, who was arrested several times. He was released from prison in March this year but did not mend his ways.
He looted twelve houses since then. Cases were registered in Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Chatrinaka, Pahadi Sharif and Balapur stations. Due to the high surveillance, he chooses areas with low CCTVs density to prevent easy identification. According to South Zone Task Force Inspector Raghavendra, Chandrayangutta police arrested the accused and seized 36.5 Tulas of gold and one kilo of silver jewelry.
