The Cybercrime rates are touching a new high in the city, but that hasn't left the cyberpolice and the police department far behind as the law enforcement are working out to track the conmen and bringing them to justice. Recently, cases lodged in early June were solved as police tracked the conmen trying to dupe someone else in the city or elsewhere.
The Rachakonda Cybercrime Police have sprung back into capturing frauds as they recently arrested a trio of Nigerian men who were the prime suspects in a Matrimonial racket. The men were tracked down in New Delhi, and police found nearly ten mobile phones, 14 SIM cards, and 26 ATM cards in their possession. The suspects identified themselves as Serge Olivier (33), Owolabi Abiodun Omorilewa (31), and Osas Freedo(39), all nationals of Nigeria.
In addition, they named two more guys Kanon Evrard and Canteh Marie, who are on the run now. The men came to India on Business and Tourist visas, researched various frauds in their initial days, and acquired SIM cards and bank accounts. These men stole pictures of random European men from the internet and created fake profiles on Matrimonial sites and social media platforms.
When they found brides, they used to build a connection and then later request them for gifts or demand a higher amount of money, reasoning it as a medical expense or fine that they have to pay for being caught by Customs officials at an Airport. The exact number of girls they cheated on promising a wedding is unknown, but these men cheated a woman from Hyderabad in a similar fashion of nearly 26 Lakh. They were tracked down in New Delhi by the cybercrime police. These men are now in judicial custody in Hyderabad and will be produced in a court soon.
