Four people were killed in accidents caused by Drunk and Drive on Sunday and Monday. Cyberabad CP Stephen Ravindra held a review meeting on Tuesday after a series of accidents. He along with traffic crew, discussed the steps to be taken to prevent road accidents due to Drink and Drive. The plan is to provide awareness to motorists, pubs, and bar owners.
The number of cases on Drunk and Drive is increasing every year. Blood alcohol content (BAC) levels range from 150 to a high of 205 in those caught driving under the influence of alcohol. As of November this year, a total of 63,303 motorists were were caught in the drives conducted by the Police. The highest number of cases were registered under the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
Checking points have been set up along the main roads and in suspicious areas. At least 3 special teams are deployed on traffic-congested routes. These checks are being conducted daily from 8 to 11 p.m. Drunk and drive checking is being conducted near bars.
