Madhapur Special Operations Team (SOT) police on Thursday arrested two software employees, including a peddler. They are importing cocaine for Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 per gram from Goa and selling it in Hyderabad for Rs 14,000. Cyberabad Commissioner Stephen Ravindra along with SOT DCP G Sandeep disclosed the details.
Rameshwara Shravan Kumar (24) from Bachupally and Gorantla Charan Teja (27) from Kondapur are friends. They planned to celebrate the New Year with cocaine. The drug peddler contacted Mohammad Ashraf Baig, 37, an Arabic teacher from Tolichowki. They bought a gram of cocaine each. After receiving the information, Madhapur SOT Inspector P. Shiva Prasad and his team went to Ramky Towers Flat No. B-1305 in Gachibowli under Rayadurg PS. They were arrested and police seized cocaine from them. After interrogating them, it was revealed that they bought the cocaine from Mohammad Ashraf Baig in Tolichowki. Ashraf was also taken into custody.
181 grams of cocaine powder and 44 MD ecstasy tablets were seized from Ashraf. 183 grams of cocaine powder, 44 MD ecstasy tablets, and three cellphones were seized from the three accused. Their value is Rs 26.28 lakh. This is the biggest-ever haul of drugs caught in a single case in the history of Telangana. Ashraf was questioned by police. It is learned that the main drug supplier was Jude alias Chris from Nigeria. It is learned that he was coming to Goa from Nigeria in the wake of New Year celebrations. Ashraf told police that he had been importing drugs from Goa for some time and selling them to private customers in Hyderabad. The main accused, a drug supplier, Jude is on the run.
