The Hyderabad cyber crime police busted a job fraud racket following the arrest of eight persons from Delhi. In addition, the police seized 26 mobile phones, a laptop, and other articles.
The arrested persons are identified as Anubhav Singh, Rajesh Singh, Saif Ali, Nafeez, Yogita, Shalu Kumari, Shivani, and Priya.
Dr. Gajurao Bhupal, Joint Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, said the gang collected data of job aspirants from job portals and contacted the victims assuring of jobs in big companies. He said that initially, a small amount was collected on the pretext of a registration fee. But, after a few days, the gang informed the victims that they got selected for a job and collected money towards security deposit, documents verification fee, GST fee, etc.
In October 2021, the suspects conned a woman from Hyderabad who uploaded her profile on Shine, a job portal, for the job of an air hostess and collected over Rs.8 lakh from her on different instances through online transfer.
The police booked a case and tracked down the suspects after a complaint was registered.
Dr. Gajurao Bhupal also added that the gang was operating a mini call center in Delhi, duping people from across the country on a daily basis. All eight persons have been remanded after the arrests.
