Hyderabad Traffic Police continue to seize vehicles with pending challans worth some 10s of 1000 Rupees. There are at times owners who flee abandoning the vehicles. This time, a man was found riding a Honda Activa with 92 pending challans for the last seven years.
The total challans amount to Rs 25,250. Vikas Kumar was caught during a routine vehicle check at Kushaiguda when he was caught driving without a helmet. The challans date back to 2014 and mostly for riding without a helmet or wrong parking.
Some challans were also related to not wearing a face mask in public places while riding. There were some challans for riding on the wrong side of the road. As per the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act, the police can impound vehicles with over 10 unpaid challans. The police seized the vehicle and served him a notice to pay the penalty with interest.
