The private schools in the city are witnessing a new reason for low admissions this academic year as children are switching to government schools, local bodies, model schools, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalays(KGBV's).
The number of students switching has been quite high as parents seem to have found the right kind of education in government schools which was not preferred once upon a time. This trend of switching began in 2019-2020 and rose even more, this year as last year can be considered a total zero year for many schools.
More than 68,000 students have switched from private schools as they found an affordable fee structure and found the quality of education that was reducing in private schools. According to the School Education Department official, at least 70,000 to 80,000 children switched in 2019-2020, and the number is set to touch a similar figure even this year as admissions are still going on.
Government schools have registered a mindblowing 1 Lakh admissions for class 1 this academic year, and higher classes are not far behind. With classes going on in online and offline mode, the state government can provide quality and uncompromised education and safety measures to the children.
