Hyderabad
It’s that time of the year for campus recruitments, and it was business as usual this year. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has got 466 offers, including 34 international offers, from 104 companies during phase 1 of campus placements.
The placement drive was held between December 1 and 7 in online mode, and a total of 650 students registered from various departments this year. On the other hand, 210 companies registered for Phase 1 as compared to 116 companies in phase 1 of 2020. Last year, 195 companies participated in the entire placement process.
While the highest package was Rs 65 lakh, the average was Rs 23 lakh for the ongoing placements. Including the pre-placement offers or PPOs, a total of 427 students have been placed during the drive for the year 2021-22. This is good news for students as a total of 305 students were placed last year, including 49 PPOs.
It has to be noted that the graduating batch of interdisciplinary MTech programs at IIT-H, such as MTech in smart mobility, has seen a 100 percent placement within the first week of the placement process. The number of students opting for semester-long internships has almost doubled to 33 vis-a-vis 12 in 2020-21. Many Indian start-ups and companies were among the top recruiters, and ten start-ups offered 36 placements in all this year.
