Lady Luck can smile on you at any time, and one just has to be prepared for the moment. One such incident happened in our city. Mohammed Akeel happens to be an engineering student apart from being a food delivery executive for Zomato.
Mohammed Akeel, who lives in Mehdipatnam, delivers food parcels on his bike daily as that is the only means of transport he has. One day, he got an order from Zomato for Niloufer tea. He cycled to Lak-di-ka-pul and took the parcel and delivered it to Robin Mukesh in King Kothi.
But the story did not end there. Robin happened to see that Akeel came on a bicycle at 10.30 pm in the night, all wet due to rains. He asked Akeel about the same. Akeel then told him that bicycle was the only means of transport he had.
In the morning, Robin posted about the incident on the Facebook page of ‘The great Hyderabad food and travel club’. And immediately, there was a huge outpouring of messages and tweets and retweets about Akeel.
The group of about 30,000 people then came up with an idea to help Akeel. When asked about what kind of help he would need, Akeel told them he would like to have a bike to deliver up to 25 parcels in a day. It would increase his salary, he told them.
Immediately, everyone in the group got into contributing their bit for Akeel’s bike, which will cost Rs 65,000. In fact, by the end of the campaign, the group collected more than Rs 65,000, and they will be buying a bike for him in a day or two.
