Malleshwar Rao, a humble youngster from Hyderabad, is refilling around 80 oxygen cylinders every day from Cherlapally Industrial Area and delivers them to Tirumala Hospital and Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital on his four-wheeler. He has provided ration kits to 70,000 families, served food to over 5,000 people every day and donated 6,000 masks and 23,000 PPE kits since the first wave of the pandemic.
He has helped 150 people with emergencies by arranging calls with doctors, distributed water bottles among frontline workers, and also distributed 50 tonnes of vegetables and fruits.
Besides, he along with his team also distributed about 4000 food packets to dogs.
Malleshwar’s efforts were applauded by many prominent personalities, including Anand Mahindra, actor Madhavan, and Norwegian diplomat Erik Solheim. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned his name in his ‘Mann ki Baat' program.
He has also won many awards that include the COVID Warrior Award in 2020 from actor Chiranjeevi, the Rashtriya Gaurav Award, the Indian Youth Icon in 2018, and the Son of the Soil Award in 2019.
Talking about his future plans, Malleshwar says he is planning to launch an app where needy people can obtain food for free.
So we hope that youngsters like Malleshwar will join forces with other youngsters and take us to better days as long as there are things to do and needy people to help in this world.
