Two auto-rickshaw drivers won plaudits and applause for their honesty in Hyderabad. One returned a wallet that contained Rs 10,000 in cash and crucial documents, while another returned a bag with gold ornaments worth 5 lakhs.
A resident of Muradnagar, Syed Zaker (34), had found a handbag on Monday afternoon near the PVNR Pillar No. 55 when he was driving around looking for passengers. Zaker said that he opened the handbag in the hope of finding some details or contact number of the owner, but he found gold ornaments in it. He then went to the Langer Houz police station and handed over the bag to the officials.
According to the Police, the bag owner Mirza Sultan Baig was going along with his wife on a motorcycle and had kept the bag on the fuel tank and lost it. They also approached the police to find their missing bag. Sultan Baig received a call later in the evening saying the bag was found. Langer Houz Inspector K Srinivas felicitated Zaker on Tuesday.
On Monday, another incident occurred where another auto-driver, Haneef Khan, proved his honesty by returning a wallet that had 10,000/- cash along with important identity documents that were forgotten in Kukatpally by a passenger.
The passenger was identified as Tirumala Rao, an Indian Army jawan who had taken the cash from a bank and boarded Haneef Khan's auto to go home in Kukatpally. The Kukatpally Police said that while getting down, he had forgotten the wallet in the vehicle, and by the time Rao realized, the auto had left. Later Khan found the wallet and immediately took it to the Kukatpally police station, who took Rao's contact details from the wallet and called him.
