Hyderabad International Airport has been awarded CII' National Energy Leader' and 'Excellent Energy Efficient Unit' awards at the 22nd national award ceremony for excellence in energy management. The award ceremony was conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Godrej Green Business Centre (GBC), the 20th edition of 'Energy Efficiency Summit,' in virtual mode.
The 'National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management' has been instituted by CII to catalyze innovative practices for the energy efficiency sector to facilitate energy-efficient and sustainable growth for the Indian industry. Incidentally, Hyderabad's International Airport has been awarded National Energy Leader and Excellent Energy Efficient Unit for the 3rd and 5th year in a row, respectively.
The annual forum recognizes companies that adopt best practices and technological advancements in their daily operations. Various parameters such as energy efficiency and innovative thought process were considered before finalizing the winners. It has to be noted that the jury, the CII members, and industry delegates appreciated the initiatives of Hyderabad International Airport.
In the past three years, it has been seen that the operations at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport have led to substantial energy savings of about 5.53 MU, which also led to a rapid fall in GHG or greenhouse gas emissions at the airport. It is known that the airport is already carbon neutral, having Level 3+ Neutrality accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI) under its Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program.
