Hyderabad
In what might come as a sigh of relief for pedestrians crossing the roads at busy junctions and roads, this will come as good news. Seven foot-over-bridges or FoBs are set to open this month, while others are under construction at congested intersections in Hyderabad.
While all the FoBs will have a lift, at some key points, FoBs will also have escalators. The open to public FoBs will come up in Charminar, Serilingampally, Khairatabad, and Kukatpally zones of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Construction is on at ten more locations with a target date of February 2022. However, it has to be noted that 17 FoBs were the target for this year-end, but the GHMC could not meet it due to various reasons.
The high traffic flow is a nightmare for people wanting to cross in these areas, both during peak and non-peak hours. The civic authority is now creating traffic islands and renovating other intersections in addition to the FoBs. The GHMC planned the construction of 90 intersections, of which 70 are already complete, and others are in various stages of completion.
The intersection at Nanakramguda Rotary, Y junction at Sainikpuri, Silicon T-Junction, and Yousufguda are a few places where the construction will begin shortly.
