Navarasas are part of the traditional dance repertoire of India. It is an evolved and highly placed with regards to a classical performance. However, when your perspective changes, the way of emoting navarasas changes too. This was witnessed by the Hyderabadi audience one fine evening. In this instance, the navarasas were performed by members of the transgender community, who used them to tell their stories.Given that it was not a ‘normal’ performance, the motley of performers was anything but artists. However, when the director of the play Sharanya Ramprakash, thought of the play, it was a raw concept, just like the unexplored talent of her students in a workshop she did with transgender people.Surprisingly, no auditions were conducted for the play, and Sharanya went along with the people who showed interest in being part of the play. “During the six-month workshops, the members did a lot of improvs. In the end, we discovered we had a lot more stories, so much material, and drama,” shares Sharanya.However, not everything was smooth sailing. Being a marginalized community, coming for rehearsals was a problem as the members faced issues taking public transport. One girl lost her leg due to an accident. But a few organizations came forward to give them space to rehearse.The first-of-its-kind play was enacted at Rangabhoomi Spaces; Gachibowli and the members narrated their own stories through each rasa. One girl laughs at the audience as it’s different for them to showcase haasya. Another one showcasing Adbhuta narrates the experience of wearing a saree for the first time.The audience was totally engrossed in the play, and many took selfies with the artists post-show. The director says they were offered designer shoes and ice cream too.

He is a 15-yr-old prodigy, he is an innovator and entrepreneur, and he is from Hyderabad. The child prodigy happens to be the recipient of the Pradhan Mantri Award (2021) and is among the handful of children selected for the Cartoon Network Redraw India Campaign. The young teenager Hemesh Chadalavada is mostly into building gadgets and software that help solve real-world problems and has some interesting ideas for the future.Hemesh is the mind behind a wristband for the elderly, seatbelt, and accident notifier. Apart from these, he has many other ideas. To add to this, he is also a programmer and an innovator. However, he calls himself a ‘maker.’He has been experimenting with various technologies and has entered the world of coding too. He says how changing a few lines in a code can change an entire algorithm. He says creating videos and posting them online on YouTube helped him understand the entire content creation landscape of India. This helped him launch CreatoWIse, a platform for content creators to optimize their content and grow their audience on YouTube. He also launched an app called GPT 3 with the help of AI technology.This helps YouTube creators to reach out to more people and grow their audiences. As for being part of the Redraw initiative by Cartoon Network, he says he is indeed happy to be a part of it and adds that it will give kids like him to think out of the box.In the coming years, Hemesh wants to explore the field of software networking and coding. But his interest now lies in robotics and hardware technologies. He says he will work on them soon and build something on that domain.

Prodigy Dabbling in Robotics, AI, Selected for Redraw India Campaign

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be holding its National Executive Committee (NEC) in the city. The three-day meet starting on June 2 will see members from all over the state visiting the city. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be holding a public meeting during the meet. And the local BJP leaders are leaving no stone unturned to make the meet ‘tasty.’While all food served will be vegetarian as many members do not eat non-veg during the month of aashadam, special satvik food will also be served as some members do not eat onion and garlic during the time.The Telangana BJP leaders have made arrangements for the delegates who will be staying in the city for the next few days. That will be the time when they will get to taste the delicacies of the famous dishes from the state.As per party sources, delegates will be served Telangana food on July 3. The menu includes ambali, sakinalu, jonna rotte, garelu, sarva pindi, murkulu, pachi pulusu, dosakaya pappu, ulavacharu, mamidikaya thokku, chikkudukaya kura, alugadda kurma among others.On the first day, food of all varieties will be served to the attendees. They will get to eat food they eat in their own states, say local BJP leaders. The NEC is scheduled to be held on July 2 and 3, followed by PM addressing the meeting.The party leaders have already started coming into the city. Party president JP Nadda will be coming on July 1. Other important leaders, CMs, and union ministers will reach out on July 2.

Hyderabad-based young boy, Agastya Jaiswal, becomes the first boy in India to complete his intermediate i.,e 12th standard in two streams. As per the reports, Agastya Jaiswal cleared BiPc (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and CEC (Civics, Economics, Commerce) in a single attempt.In the announced intermediate results by the TS government, Agastya Jaiswal cleared the 2nd year examination in BiPc with 81 percent from Sri Chandra College. Reportedly, when he was 11 years old, Agastya was the youngest boy in Telangana to pass the intermediate examination in CEC from a private College.At the age of 14 years in 2020, Agastya Jaiswal created a record as the youngest boy in India to complete graduation in BA Mass-communication and Journalism. Earlier, at the age of just nine years, Agastya became the youngest boy in Telangana to pass SSC.Speaking about his rare record, Agastya thanked the government of Telangana for his accomplishment. Apart from superb performance in his studies, Agastya is also doing a superb job in playing games. Agastya's father revealed that his son is a national-level table tennis player and also a motivational speaker as well.

Kalakriti Art Gallery hosts a solo contemporary ceramic exhibition by artist Vinod Daroz. The show titled Aikyam: Oneness is the artist’s way of presenting men and women.Daroz, who happens to be from Telangana, went to study fine arts at Baroda University in 1993. Sculpture was his major subject, while pottery and ceramic were his minor subjects. And that’s when his fascination with ceramics started. His art teacher also encouraged him to pursue ceramic art, today, he is established in his art form.Of course, during the initial days, it was a challenge for Daroz, as setting up a ceramic studio means lots of money. Luckily for him, he got to work at a private studio set up by an industrialist during the initial years of his career. Later, Daroz set up his ceramic studio.The work at Kalakriti Art Gallery is mainly inspired by south Indian temples and household items like mortar and pestle. Daroz has been working on ceramics for more than eight years and shares that whenever he sees something new, he does not get bored. The main theme of his show is Shivling.However, Daroz says instead of depicting it directly, he uses mortar and pestle, which is a symbolic way of presenting men and women. Butterflies signify women and rebirth, he adds. He confesses he likes Indian textiles too for inspiration, as was his family jewelry business.That’s probably one of the reasons why he uses a lot of gold in his work.Ceramic is made of clay, and Daroz uses four types of clay for his works. One comes from Gujarat, another from the UK, depending on the work. Similarly, he uses metallic oxides for color. He uses cobalt oxide for blue and copper oxide for red and green.But Daroz is a happy man. He says the ceramic business is growing in India, though it has always been a part of Indian crafts. However, people slowly look at it as an art form, which wraps up Daroz.

Hyderabad, or the city of pearls, has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Only a couple of weeks back, a young girl of 17 was raped in a plush locality by minors. Following that, a woman working with an UN-affiliated organization was molested at an upscale pub at 1.30 am in the morning. Her friends were beaten up badly with bottles.Then there is the rising number of honor killings. It looks like the city has become a place for aggression and sexual violence. Though the city is rated among the best cities to live in, the growing crime scenes in broad daylight and in plush areas have surely become a cause of concern.Ironically, the Telangana government has the largest number of police recruits, and it is a city that is under high surveillance beating Chennai and London, New York, and Beijing. Hyderabad apparently has 480 CCTVs per sq km and 30 for every 1000 population. However, this hasn’t stopped the criminals from going ahead with their heinous crimes.The Telangana state government is also coming up with an ultra-modern ‘Command and Control Centre’ that will centralize and codify the city’s facial recognition system on a real-time basis. While the human rights activists say it will be a grave violation of human rights and data privacy, the government does not seem to have any plans of withdrawing it. In fact, the Centre will be capable of monitoring data and imagery from 6 lakh cameras in the city.With growing surveillance, the number of crimes only seems to be increasing in Hyderabad.

But times have changed, there is awareness among people, and today there is a trend of corporates joining hands with the administration to protect and revive water bodies in Hyderabad and its suburbs.Leading builders and developers like Vamsiram Builders, Jain Constructions, Green Leaves Infra, Vaishnaoi Group, and Meenakshi Infrastructures have all come forward to volunteer for the initiative as a part of their social responsibility programs.As part of the initiative, de-silting, wee cleaning, biological wetland treatment, bund strengthening and compacting, inlet sewage diversion, and setting up of floating wetlands and plantations will be taken up at 25 lakes in the city. In some places, dewatering will also be done.Simultaneously, beautification works will also be taken up. Installation of aerators to increase oxygen levels in the lake, display of hoardings to increase footfall, installation of signage to warn people against littering, and placing of benches and litter bins are also some of the other tasks on the to-do list of all stakeholders involved.The 25 lakes identified for conservation and preservation include Peeda Cheruvu in Mansoorabad, Yapral lake in Malkajgiri, Malgoud lake in Rajendranagar, and Masjid Banda lake in Kondapur and Nanakramguda lake. A standing committee will accord permission to the corporate bodies to go ahead with their part.The corporates also intend to conserve the environment around the lake by involving the community. As a part of the initiative, the agencies have been told to submit a detailed action plan for the development of lakes, draw up an agreement and sign a memorandum of understanding with GHMC superintendent engineer of Lakes Wing.

An Assam native security guard murdered his wife at his house on Monday. Reportedly, a security guard working at GVK Mall killed his wife Rupa Sarkar at their house in Punjagutta and later committed suicide at Lakdikapul railway station track in the evening hours of Monday.After finding his dead body of Biswas, the railway police authorities checked his clothes and found a letter in his wallet. In the letter, which was written in the Assamese language, the overall summary is that Biswas killed his wife and kept her body in the Punjagutta house as he had a doubt about his wife's character and ended his life by suicide with depression.The railway police located Biswas' house at Prem Nagar in Punjagutta and recovered Rupa Sarkar's dead body from the rented house will the help of Punjagutta cops.A case is registered under section 302( murder) act of IPC by the Punjagutta police. On the other hand, the railway police lodged a case under section 174( suicide). Reportedly, an investigation is going on on the twin death cases.

Security Guard Murders His Wife and Commits Suicide 

The now popular conjoined twins who had earlier refused any special arrangements for writing their exams have passed their intermediate examination. Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) on Tuesday announced results for its students of inter 1st and 2nd year. Over 9 lakh students appeared for the exam that was conducted in May.Among them were Veena and Vani, conjoined twins who passed the examination with first-class marks. Satyavathi Rathod, minister for tribal welfare and child welfare, extended her greetings to them, and she also lauded the officers who helped them.Telangana education minister Sabitha Indira Reddy announced the results and over 60 percent of students passed in second class while the rest passed in first class. Veena and Vani want to continue their education and do not want their situation to cause hurdles in their further studies.Incidentally, both girls are adamant and want to become independent. It is known that though they have parents, the parents refuse to take them home as they say they cannot afford to bring them up.

Shantamma jumped into the heritage Hussain Sagar Lake a couple of months back to fetch a body. The person's inconsolable relatives did not touch the rotten body as it smelt real bad. Finally, Shantamma was given Rs 70 for retrieving the body. But money is not why the mother of seven children does such deeds.Shantamma and her husband Shiva, who live on the footpath by the Katta Maisamma temple near Hussain Sagar, look at it as an act of charity. They have been doing this for many years and take the families' money wholeheartedly. The couple is always a call away when the need arises.Shiva, a seventh-class drop-out, started fetching bodies as a teenager. Both Shiva and Shantamma grew up together, and Shantamma has been filling for her husband since 2004. The couple grew up together, got married, and now have a brood of seven. But that does not deter them from the hazardous task. They rescue those who jump into the lake to commit suicide.It is known that Hussian Sagar is full of pretty harmful pollutants. Still, the couple takes it as their responsibility to get the bodies of people who commit suicide by jumping into the lake and searching for bodies that lie on the lake bed 30-60 feet deep. Shiva lauds his wife Shantamma for her courage and determination to help him in his endeavor.Shiva, now 37, travels to districts for search operations, and Shantamma promptly fills in. While many look at her suspiciously, she is good at her job and does it without any safety mechanisms.Ironically, there are four outposts and one police station at Hussain Sagar. But none of the staff in these places know swimming, and neither do they have the equipment or apparatus to do the needful if they see anyone jumping into the lake. They only stop some from jumping, counsel them and reunite them with their families.

Ever since Telangana was formed, the government has emphasized developing lung spaces and developing various hitherto unused spaces into verdant spreads. Apart from many infrastructural projects, the government is also into developing parks big time.Incidentally, out of the 1037 parks and green spaces under the GHMC limits, ten major parks are spread over five acres of land and 17 theme parks. Four hundred thirty-nine parks were developed after 2014.In a new press release, GHMC has said that two urban forest parks and 56 theme parks are under various stages of development. The two urban forest parks will be located n Madannaguda near Shamshabad and Nagaram, while the 55 theme parks will be distributed across different parts of the city.The Pranavayu urban forest park and the Sports Theme Park in Gajularamaram are a few examples of an urban forest park and a theme park. It is known that both these spaces have been inaugurated by MA &amp; UD minister KT Rama Rao recently.Animal kingdom park, a science theme park, a knowledge park, a topiary garden, a women’s park, an adventure theme park, a community park, a children’s park, and a golf theme park are some of the other themes under consideration. The inauguration of the parks will start sometime in February and go on till December. The parks are being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 130 crore.The best part about these carefully developed lung spaces is that they will offer various facilities for all age groups like yoga centers, walkways, open gyms, lawns, washrooms, etc. Of late, GHMC has started using spaces under the flyovers to spread the green cover, and space under the Shaikpet flyover is now available for the public. Plans are on to convert the space under LB flyover soon.
