In times when coconut water is said to be diluted with ‘medicines’ so that one gets more water, coconut water in a sachet comes as a surprise option for those looking for a healthy alternative. And introducing them in the market is Frister Foods by Chevella Farms.
City-based Frister Foods, a food processing company, was started by Shaaz Mehmood, Ishaan Dodhiwala and Muhammed Ali. The instant powder proclaims to be 100% natural with no preservatives. All one needs is 250ml of water to put it in and stir, and one will have a glassful of natural coconut water.
The makers claim that the powder is made from coconut water taken from coconuts from the Pollachi region of Coimbatore. It is made using flash freeze-drying technology which helps the powder retain its natural nutrients. The trio hit upon the idea when a friend wanted to find a way to make use of the coconut water that was going to waste from his unit.
After research and development, the trio got a concrete idea and then consulted health experts and nutritionists to attain a standard sugar level so that the sweetness does not vary. It is known that if taken in natural form, the sweetness of one coconut varies from another.
Also, the trio says that their sachets reduce the carbon footprint during transportation and share that they are working on chancing upon a bio-degradable packaging material for the powder.
A box of 10 standard sachets cost about Rs 250 and can be ordered from www.chevellafarms.com.
