The eminent scientist and project director of Avionics DRDO Ummalaneni Raja Babu, who designed and conducted the first Anti-Satellite Test (ASAT), better known as Mission Shakti, around the world, has now been appointed as the director of DRDO's (Defence Research and Development Organisation) premier avionics laboratory Research Centre Imarat.
The Avionics lab has been a part of the DRDO since 1998 and is located at the APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex and was established by our former president Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Avionics is specialized in the Research and Development of Missile Systems, Guided Weapons, and advanced Avionics for the Indian Armed Forces.
Raja Babu and his contribution to providing necessary thrust and design to the country's Ballistic Defense Program have been remarkable. He led a team of 150 scientists during India's Mission Shakti Program upscaled the country's defense capabilities. The scientist is now set to become the director of this lab, watch its operations overall, and contribute in every way towards the growth of the Indian Defense.
