The IIT-Hyderabad, which had recently inaugurated four new facilities with state-of-the-art equipment as a part of their phase 2 of the campus expansion, has signed an agreement with Honeywell Technology Solutions(HTS) to set up an Artificial Intelligence Lab in their AI Engineering block. This setup will be a part of the entire B.tech course on AI as per the NEP 2020, which is only offered at IIT-H.
The lab setup was inaugurated on Wednesday, along with the inauguration of other facilities by the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and announced that the IIT would do the maintenance and upgrading. The main aim of this lab is to ensure that Honeywell and IIT-H work together to find solutions to problems using AI and understand the future of AI.
Apart from HTS, two more organizations will be a part of the AI course offered by the IIT and add more value to it by introducing various programs like domain training, workshops, internships, and hackathons for students to build their interest and skill in AI. These programs will also equip selected employees of Honeywell.
Letting the select employees have access to these value-added courses and programs will inculcate a sense of deeper research among them, which will them grow better and will also encourage students to upgrade their skill set. The presence of these two organizations is a big booster for industrial exposure for the students and a research bounty for Honeywell.
