IIT- Hyderabad is gearing up to host an exclusive event known as Japan Day on the 24th and 25th of September. This event will be co-hosted by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This is a one-of-a-kind job fair where the best companies, startups, and innovators will discuss their operations and attract students from IIT-H.
Since the pandemic is still happening, this fair will be a virtual event and will feature 20 leading companies. After the successful third edition of this job fair in 2020, A survey was done by JETRO and JICA. The survey showed that more than 60% of the participating countries showed great interest in extensive research and future collaboration with students and research scholars from IIT-H. So to fulfill the interest of both ends, this year's 2-day event will feature one whole day of Industry-Academia-Government session.
Usually, this event has a very straightforward plan of constant interaction. Still, this year it is slightly altered to establish a strong relationship with students to help the Japanese build a long-term collaboration and acquire the right talent for their companies.
The 'Japan Day' job fair has been going on for the third year straight, a part of a Memorandum Of Cooperation for Japan-India partnership signed by the Ministry of Economic, Trade, and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MEITY), India and JETRO.
The fair had a humble beginning with a handful of companies joining in 2018, and just three editions of this fair have grown to a 40 company fair solid and are set to get better this year. The Japanese have regarded the tech talent of India quite highly and are waiting to host one edition of this fair in their homeland post the pandemic.
