Kids, teenagers, and even adults have quickly adapted to the social isolation lifestyle created by this pandemic. Still, somehow the older men and women have been battling a hard time in the four walls of their house. Their limited fellowship during morning and evening walks, sudden pilgrimages, or any social event hasn't been happening lately, instilling them with unhealthy fear, depression, anxiousness, and suicidal thoughts in extreme cases.
Achala IT Solutions, a city-based startup, has created a unique companion robot that will spend time with the older folks, interact with them, and relay information during an emergency. This robot that Elro will produce is not just an interactive talking robot but will also keep the elders engrossed with games and interaction facilities with their family and friends and check on their health by checking their BP, Sugar, Saturation, and temperature.
In addition, this robot has a rare feature of connecting to a doctor through video and home delivering medicines to them. The company CEO and Founder Rajesh Raju explained how the robot would eliminate older people's suicidal or depressive tendencies.
The robot is currently tuned to the English language. However, it will soon be functioning in the required language as back-end work is still in progress to include Google Assistant and Alexa Technologies. Testing and all modifications will go on till the end of November, and it will be ready for sale in December and will be priced at Rs.25,000. The startup has come up with this idea and many others as they are startups under the State Government's T-aim (emerging technologies wing).
