Hyderabad
Hyderabad has become a hotbed for start-ups, and just about every day, something innovative is being launched in the city. In keeping with people’s consciousness and awareness of clean and green vehicles, a Hyderabad-based start-up Kachbo Designs, has introduced an e-bike in the market that is foldable.
Branded as Hornback, the folding electric bicycle has been designed by Kachbo Designs’ founders Nishith Parikh and Rajkumar Kewat. The e-bicycle was launched by Telangana IT and Industries principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan. Appreciating the duo for their innovation and creativity, he spoke about including ‘e-bicycles’ into the Telangana E Vehicle Policy. He also called upon young entrepreneurs to establish a full-fledged manufacturing unit for Hornback in Telangana in the coming days.
The e-bicycle can go at high speeds and is ideal for urban commuting. The battery, too, can be swapped with ease which turns it into ready-to-go. The foldable bike takes half the space of a regular bicycle and can be conveniently wheeled into all forms of public transport. It can also fit into car boots or elevators with ease.
Kachbo co-founder Nishith Parikh shared that electric cars cost 160 times more to charge than the regular e-bicycle and cost 18 times more per km to ride. In fact, e-bike occupies 10 percent of the space that any regular car does.
