The Durgam Cheruvu, being wholly revamped from its former look and the cable bridge that adds to its beauty, has been tempting people and adventure junkies to get on a boat ride around this big lake and enjoy a different view of Hyderabad's IT hub on the boat.
However, Durgam Cheruvu has a boat ride facility. Still, it is quite a low-key affair, and not many people are aware, and not many pictures of people trying it out are surfacing on the internet. The location surrounding this lake will now be a full recreational spot for cycling, playing, jogging, a relaxing weekend with family and friends on a big boat or yacht, and some adrenaline rush for water sports lovers.
The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority(HMDA), and the Yacht Club of Hyderabad(YCH) will come together for this project. Also, MAUD and HMDA have permitted the YCH Foundation to teach young kids sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and yachting, a stellar course by the YCH which has produced dozens of talents from their original talents training location in Hussainsagar.
The YCH showed the Secretary of MAUD,Arvind Kumar, a glimpse of the Yachts club's talent through an exclusive event on Saturday evening where the kids sailed the water of Durgam Cheruvu and their boats matching the theme of Independence Day.
The head coach and chief of YCH Foundation, Suheim Sheikh, is quite excited to begin a new coaching phase and exclaims that the training will continue at Hussainsagar. The coach also mentioned that this new venue would see some great talents participating in regattas and other sailing events. YCH considers this a more incredible opportunity for the young talent as the sailing foundation has played a vital role in the Olympians that sailed in the Tokyo 2020.
