Made available by Bengaluru-based food start-up Vegolution, Hello Tempayy is a bean-based, easy-to-cook ingredient that can be used in different cuisines.
The whole idea is to provide vegetarians with an option from traditional protein sources. According to Siddharth Ramasubramanian, founder and CEO of Vegolution, Tempayy is not a new thing. He shares that the ingredient has been around for centuries. He further adds that it is pretty easy to cook, healthy, and a rich source of protein. Incidentally, Tempayy has 38gm of protein for every 200 gm. It’s rich in Vitamin B-12 and iron. The products from Vegolution are gluten-free, dairy-free, and good for the gut. In short, it’s a one-of-its-kind superfood.
Given the current lifestyles and diet needs, research has shown that vegetarians were either having eggs or other animal-based proteins to keep up their protein intake. To help them have a healthy and convenient option, Vegolution has come up with a variety of products that are based around Tempayy. Originally a Javanese must-have in traditional cuisine, Tempayy is made of natural culturing and controlled fermentation process that binds soybeans into cake form. A fungus, Rhizopus oligosporus, is used in fermentation. Once the fermentation happens, soybeans that turn into white blocks are cut into cubes and packed.
Vegolution has done enough research and tested using Tempayy in different Indian cuisines to make sure that more people can make use of its benefits.
