Hyderabad
Well, COVID has become a part of everyday life, and there’s nothing new to that. But due to COVID and the ensuing protocols, life and lifestyles have surely been impacted. The number of people attending functions has been cut to the bare minimum due to the pandemic, and one trend that has emerged due to this is the color-coordinated functions. Thanks to the pandemic, the number of people attending a function or wedding is now restricted to close family and friends. And this has resulted in families planning theme-based parties and theme-based weddings on a smaller scale. However, a small scale does not mean spending less.
The focus is now on spending big on small things. This means giving attention to detail and coming up with ideas that will make the wedding look lavish and grand. So, many or almost all families are opting to wear color-coordinated attires on that special day.
Naturally, this has directly impacted the businesses of city-based designers as they now get to design for a set of people instead of just the bride and groom or mother and daughter. One Hyderabad designer shares that though the trend was around for the past three to four years, it is now that the people are making that extra effort to stand out during the special occasion.
In case of a wedding, everyone from the father to mother to the groom or bride and all their close relatives and friends are going in for various designs, albeit in the same shade. For example, one family wore pastel shades with zari work for the wedding, while the groom’s side wore dark-colored outfits in blue. This helped in figuring out who belonged to which side and also made them picture-perfect. So was the case with a mother and daughter who wore net and georgette for their ensembles in green. Interestingly, all those who attended the birthday party also wore green attires in various shades.
And all this coordination comes at a price. While some outfits cost about Rs 15,000, others can go up to Rs 1 lakh. But it looks like no one is complaining!
