Painting is an art form that not everyone can excel at. One needs focus, patience, and an eye for detail. And to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records is surely not a mean task. Sangu Upasana is one girl who became one of the official participants of Guinness World Record with her sheer determination and skill.
She has also won a gold medal in ‘Online Fragrance of Art Buds International Youth and Child Art Exhibition 2018’. She says her foray into the world of painting was sheer coincidence. Apparently, Upasana started off by drawing sketches of designs on bedsheets. Seeing her interest, her mother encouraged her, and she slowly picked up different concepts and started drawing. Later, Upasana got into painting.
As of today, the self-trained artist has created 800-plus paintings. She has been practicing for seven years, and Upasana recently joined Simsum Arts Gallery and Studio’s painting classes to hone her skill further. Though she had her inhibitions before getting into painting as she thought sketching would be pretty tough to learn, Upasana now feels it’s the easiest one. She now does oil and acrylic paintings besides sketching.
As for her record, the 18-year-old took part in an event organized by Mayank Vyas and Dr. Mahima Gupta on Facebook – Most paintings were uploaded to Facebook in one hour. She says the record was an unexpected thing for her. As many public spaces and galleries were shut down during the pandemic, the participants were asked to upload their paintings on Facebook, one at a time. Some 797 members took part in the event.
And now, Upasana not only paints, but she also teaches art to other enthusiasts. She does it through her YouTube channel ‘Upasana Art Classes.’ Upasana has also started uploading her artworks on YouTube to inspire others. She feels she must share tips with all art lovers who want to learn it online.
