Hyderabad is world-famous for lip-smacking Biryani. All famous cuisines of Telugu states, the country, and even Pan-World delicacies are available in Bhagyanagar. We see hotels, restaurants, fast food centers, cafes, eateries thriving in the city almost on every road. As a result, the city is leading the nation in the restaurant and hotel business.
According to the latest figures from the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), every seven leading restaurants in Hyderabad register a business of Rs. 6,037 crore, Rs 1,380 crore in chain restaurants, and Rs 4,657 crore in other restaurants. According to NRAI data alone, the business of organized restaurants is at a record level of around Rs 12,000 crore.
The NRAI was established in 1982 to deal with the restaurant business. Leading restaurants and hotels in all cities across the country are affiliated with this association. Currently, the Hyderabad Chapter started recently. While up to 200 are affiliated with NRAI in this chapter, in the coming days, NRAI aims to expand across Telangana and bring 2000 restaurants and hotels under the purview of this association.
Restaurants are in trouble after the pandemic. Corona regulations have implications for restaurants. Similarly, there are problems due to the penetration of e-commerce into the food business. With this, NRAI is taking steps to bring the problems in restaurants, hotels, and catering services to the attention of the government more effectively.
