The pandemic left people home-locked, and now with COVID giving us a respite, enthusiastic people are making efforts to unite people and come up with special events. One such event was organized to facilitate people from various walks of people to meet and regale at Urdu Hall in Himayatnagar.
The place came alive after two years to mark the annual meeting of Anjuman-e-Rekhta Goyan, the quarterly literary journal which couldn’t take place in January due to COVID. The event was hosted by Dr. Javeed Kamal as the Ramzan season is beginning soon.
The program was titled – Aao mil baithen! Kuch tum kaho, kuch hum kahen. There were lawyers, housewives, professors, and even a Moulana. What was common was their love for the Urdu language and literature. They, however, not only exchanged pleasantries, but they also enjoyed lovely homemade food. The concept was to bring homemade food without straining oneself too much. So, one got to eat dahi ki kadi, kheema pulao, moong ki biryani, bagara khana, chicken 65 and fish. There were also yummy desserts like fruit salad, custard apple ka meetha, kheer, etc.
Once the eating was over, there was a quiz with betuke questions, and those who gave sharp answers took home prizes. Waheed Pasha Quadri, Lateefuddin Lateef, and Moin Amar Bamboo had the audience in splits with their humor poetry. Then there was antakshari to round off the event.
