Last year was a different ball game altogether for IPL and its teams, literally. This year, the matches are set to start on April 9 and Sunrisers Hyderabad is a happy team after having secured its sponsors for the season. They have named the 15 sponsors, some of whom have been with them over seasons.
In 2020, IPL signed 13 sponsors, so it is a direct jump by two numbers. Sunrisers Hyderabad that has been consecutively qualifying for playoffs since 2016, has named JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd as its principal sponsor. Ralco Tyres is another principal sponsor. The team has also added water purifier Kent RO as another principal sponsor to its portfolio this year.
Other sponsors include Jio, TCL Limited, fantasy sports platform Dream 11, Jai Raj Steel, Nerolac, Colgate for IPL 14. The logos and branding will be displayed on the team’s match kits.
Them apart, Kotak Mahindra, sportswear and sports equipment brand Tyka, virtual reality sports platform IB Cricket, food brand Double Horse, multi-sport aggregator platform FanCode have continued their association while Anil Kumble’s technology-based sports firm Spektacom is a new addition.
Thanks to the rolling out of the vaccine, it is expected that the IPL franchises will jump from 20 to 40% as compared to sponsorship revenues last year when the tournament was held in UAE.
