The bronze medal victory of PV Sindhu has been something a million Hyderabadi's have been proud of as the shuttler not just won bronze this Tokyo Olympics but also became the only woman in Indian sports history to win a medal in 2 consecutive medals.
But, on the other hand, the city's ace tennis star for more than a decade, Sania Mirza, had a disappointing campaign as she crashed out in the first round of the women's doubles with her partner Ankita Raina. The Goshamahal MLA from BJP, Raja Singh, has seen this win and loss of these two world-class players from two different sports as a chance to call out Sania Mirza, who is currently the brand ambassador of the state since 2014. The MLA has urged the chief minister of the state K Chandrashekhar Rao to make PV Sindhu the ambassador and used the derogatory term " Daughter in the law of Pakistan" for the tennis player who has been representing India on the world stage and Olympics since 2008.
The leader has also emphasized the flourish of the Hyderabadi athletes on the world stage and urged the chief minister to allocate a budget for it. The leader somehow continues to target the tennis star, and this is the second instance after the latter hurled some kind of comments during the Pulwama attack in 2019. While both these stars are quite good acquaintances and have shared media space at times. Both these players might not have any views about this as they are more game-oriented and are not media frenzy.
