Sunrisers Hyderabad had a dreadful outing in IPL 2021. The franchise which is previously known for its consistent performance has finished the season last with only three wins from 14 games. They removed David Warner as skipper following a dismal run in the first leg of the tournament.
New Zealand's Kane Williamson was brought in his place but their struggles continued. On Friday, they lost the final league match of IPL 2021 to Mumbai Indians by 42 runs. There are enough indications that the team should go for a major overhaul in the upcoming Mega auction to change its fortunes.
Experts are advising the team to have a local player as captain as the team will get to be more flexible with their foreign recruits for the four slots in playing eleven. David Warner who has been the backbone of SRH since 2014 is unlikely to be retained with indications about an internal conflict between Warner and the management.
The franchise may have to build an entirely new squad during the mega auction. Only Rashid Khan and Williamson may be retained. There are reports that Sunrisers Coach Tom Moody is fancying his chances to become Team India's Coach after Ravi Shastri's tenure. In that case, the team may also change its support staff as well.
