Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad is in the news for all the right reasons. For starters, they have come up with a new line-up of cricketers for the next IPL season, and their star auctioneer Kaviya Maran has once again broken the internet.
Google was filled with questions – Who is Kaviya Maran, and Who is the owner of SRH? The IPL auction was attended by Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan instead of their father, Shah Rukh Khan, who owns Kolkata Knight Riders. And Jahnavi Mehta represented mom Juhi Chawla, co-owner of KKR.
But the buzz was around Kaviya Maran, who happens to be the daughter of media baron Kalanithi Maran. She is associated with Sun Music and FM Channels. Kalanithi Maran is the grand-nephew of the late Karunanidhi, and her uncle happens to be Dayanidhi Maran. However, it is not the first time that Kaviya Maran has attended an IPL auction. She was first spotted in 2018 and later in 2019 during the auction season and has been making headlines ever since.
Meanwhile, a total of 590 cricketers are up for grabs, with 228 being capped players. Incidentally, Australians make up for the biggest lot of international players, with 47 enlisted players. As for SRH Hyderabad, it dropped David Warner and has retained skipper Kane Williamson along with batter Abdul Samad and pacer Umran Malik. This season, they have signed a well-balanced number of players. Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi are likely to be the openers for the team, with skipper Kane Williamson walking in next. The batting line-up will be a few notches up with Washington Sundar and Nicholas Pooran.
SRH has retained Umran Malik and released Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan. Pacers Karthik Tyagi, Sean Abbott, and Marco Jansen have been picked. However, they dropped spinner Rashid Khan and signed on Sundar and Shreyas Gopal.
