Hyderabad
Will they or won’t they is the big question... well, in the case of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the possibility of the side winning IPL looks undecided and quite wobbly as it no longer has David Warner and Rashid Khan on their side.
They nevertheless looked pretty ambitious during the last month’s auction, though they ended up losing some key players at the bidding at the last minute. Yet, they managed to have most of their team members back and bid for some newcomers to the side. But the big question remains as to how effective they will be with Kane Williamson leading the team in the next IPL season.
If one goes back a little, the team took home the IPL trophy, once as Deccan Chargers and once as Sunrisers Hyderabad. And its Achilles Heel happens to be a weak batting side, though they have a decent line-up when it comes to bowlers.
In the past, Warner would drag the team into playoffs with Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, and then Williamson. Though the openers would manage around 140, the middle order would crumble, and they would lose matches and eventually end up losing the tournament too.
Though the Sunrisers splurged Rs 6.5 crore on Abhishek Sharma and Rs 10.75 crore on keeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran, once again, the batting side appears weak post this auction and the bowling side is well-stocked. And there is no denying the loss of Rashid Khan. In the recent IPL, Sunrisers ended up last in the eighth position, and it remains to be seen where they land, now that there are 10 teams in the league.
