Here’s good news for instant delivery services as the new hyperlocal delivery startup Pickkup has witnessed 11 fold growth in the last nine months during the COVID19 period. Pickkup, which is a Hyderabad-based startup, claims that it is the first local delivery model that focuses on offering instant, on-demand, services for sector enterprises.
According to founder Hemanth Chandrato, the startup which was started two years ago now has a team of 50 employees and 100 riders and now the target is to touch 1 lakh orders per month by the end of March 2021.
He says that quick delivery of small items in the city is their mission and Hyderabad is the first city in the country to experience the convenience of last-mile deliveries provided by them.
Interestingly, the stats say that the startup took 12 months to complete its first 50,000 orders whereas its last recent 50,000 orders were completed within just six weeks. Traditional courier companies do not offer instant and on-demand delivery services. Most on-demand delivery companies, on the other hand, operate in a limited radius.
HemanthChandra, Founder &CEO of Pickkup. says that the shortage of efficient pick-up & drop service has been a major headache area for businesses that are resource and time-strapped. Pickkup’s enterprise based delivery model has offered to fulfill this void by establishing a supremely efficient last-mile delivery model for everything. He says that their technology-based model has been able to utilize the existing network on the ground effectively and demonstrate the ability to scale up and disrupt markets with innovation. In its second year, the startup registered an overwhelming 400% year on year growth in revenue.
In India, there is an infinite demand for last-mile delivery service. In India, the online mode still constitutes just 1.6% of retail sales in India as against 14% globally, despite the huge Covid-induced push to the digital economy. Herein lies a huge untapped market for logistics services. It serves businesses ranging from restaurants, grocery platforms, florists, e-commerce companies, diagnostics, and many more.
