Watched the boys having all the fun going on long rides on their bikes and stopping midway to have yummy food at roadside dhabas? Well, in today’s world, this no longer is a man’s prerogative. More and more women are taking to bikes and the country is seeing a surge in the number of women bike riders.
And sooner or later, one will hear of bike trips by women riders. Incidentally, this is exactly what the founders of Let’s Ryde want. Kuldeep Sharma and Amit Siani were approached by women who wanted a bike and as well as a rider as they didn’t know how to drive one. Seeing their enthusiasm, the partners who till then had company lending superbikes, got into teaching women riders the intricacies and tricks of bike riding.
When they started in Delhi, the response was tremendous and that’s when they decided to take up classes in other cities. Recently, they had a four-day session spread across two weekends in the city. The duo confesses that the excitement and interest shown by wannabe women riders were indeed infectious.
The girls and women who took up the classes are equally thrilled to learn to ride and get to know of a whole load of tips regarding maintenance, etc. The girls were also taught how to lift a fallen bike.
Both Kuldeep and Amit maintain that bikers are a community and they want women riders to build their own teams and go on trips.
