Kalgudi startup has developed a digital platform wherein a consumer can buy delicious mangoes directly from the grooves. It is aiming to sell 10,000 tonnes of fruit this season through tgreens.com and kalgudi.com. Besides, the government has also tied up with the firm to market the mangoes grown in several districts.
About 12 lakh tonnes of mangoes yield is expected this year from the 3.06 lakh of mango grooves in the state. Especially, these fruits are widely grown by farmers in the districts of Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Mahbubnagar, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Jagitial, Rangareddy, Sangareddy and Mancherial.
Moreover, farmer producer organisations are also formed in these districts and they even tied up with the startup to sell their mangoes on its platform. Above all, the consumers can get the details of the groove and variety of the mangoes including the manner in which they are plucked and packaged by scanning the QR code on the pack.
So, this kind of transparency will also help farmers to get a good price and the staff of the startup will visit the grooves and transport the fruits to the consumers. All this process will help the farmers get a genuine price for their produce at their place itself.
