The nostalgic days of double-decker buses plying the roads of Hyderabad will soon be back. the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has called tenders to introduce 25 buses in the city. The firms were asked to submit two distinct bids technical and financial in separate covers. However, Four companies took the tender forms but only Asho Leyland submitted the bids.
The other three companies Eicher, Veera Vahan, and M G did not submit their bids. As per the Notice Inviting Tenders(NIT) the bidders have to design, build, manufacture, test, supply and commission the buses adhering to BS-VI emission standards.
The TSRTC officials identified that the suburbs such as Suchitra, Patancheru, Jeedimetla and Mehdipatnam are feasible to run these buses. The committee floated by the Corporation advised Secunderabad-Medchal via Suchitra, Secunderabad- Patancheru via Balanagar, CBS-Jeedimetla, Afzal Gunj- Mehdipatnam and Koti-Patancheru as routes for double-decker buses.
So, a netizen asking Minister KT Rama Rao on Twitter has kick-started all this process. Finally, the giant buses will be seen roaming on city roads sooner than later.
