Public works minister Dattatraya Bharane held a meeting on the 16th of February to discuss about road safety and proper infrastructure to reduce accidents. There’d been several mishaps at Sion-Panvel highway the meeting was to curb these accidents.
Many aspects were discussed to improve the infrastructure and ensure safety for the people travelling through the highway. The minister assured that required efforts would be undertaken to ensure proper resolution to this problem.
The reasons behind the accidents are underground footpaths, speed breakers, and street lights. If these things, as mentioned earlier, are adequately managed, the casualties would reduce considerably. Therefore the meeting was attended by Chief Engineer K.T Patil and Baliram Netke. All issues related to improving the infrastructure were discussed along with other facilities such as pedestrian bridges for aged citizens and traffic lights for safer navigation.
